Boutique Agency of the Year went to a firm that refuses to stop being boutique
REYA Communications, a boutique luxury travel PR agency based in New York and
Lima, Peru, has been named Boutique Agency of the Year at the 2026 PRNEWS
Platinum Awards, presented October 6 in New York City.
REYA represents independent and family-owned luxury hotels, resorts, safari
operators, private villas, and experiential travel companies, with a focus on
brands committed to conservation, sustainability, and social impact. But the
award citation that matters most to other small firms is about how the agency
is run, not who it represents.
As agencies grow, founders usually move into executive management and off
client work. REYA has deliberately stayed boutique so founders Alexandra
Avila and Julie Leventhal keep leading client strategy and account
management — using digital efficiencies and a curated client portfolio to
pair senior-level service with international media expertise.
“We wanted to remain at the table, working directly with the founders and
owners who entrust us with their businesses,” said Avila.
That is a business model statement disguised as an awards story. Staying
small is often framed as a failure to scale. REYA’s win frames it as a
positioning choice: the founders’ time is the product, and protecting it is
the strategy.
