Glif just launched an AI “modeling agency” — and the fine print matters more than the demo
Glif has launched what it calls an AI modeling agency inside its creative platform. Brands and creators pick from a roster of 165 AI characters, add a product or a brief, and Glif’s AI agent produces finished ad content — from stills to video ads. The launch post drew 2.7 million views on X. As Glif put it in the announcement: “Cast hundreds of real AI models, drop your product, idea or brief and let Glif create super compelling content for you end to end.”
Glif describes itself as an AI “creative super agent”: its 2.0 platform launched in April alongside a $17.5 million seed round led by Andreessen Horowitz and Union Square Ventures. Instead of an editing timeline, users describe what they want in a chat, and the agent runs the image, video, voice and music models to produce it. The new characters plug into that agent and work with video models including Seedance 2.5, Wan 3, FLUX 3 Max, Kling 4.0, Grok and MiniMax H3 Max.
For a small team, the appeal is obvious: product content without a photoshoot, travel or talent fees. The platform is free to start, and Glif is offering the first 250 sign-ups a free month of its Starter plan — though the characters page does not list what Starter costs.
But the questions Glif has not answered are the ones that decide whether a studio can actually use it for client work. Glif calls its roster “real AI models” without explaining what that means: the page does not say whether the 165 characters are fully synthetic or based on the likenesses of real people — and if the latter, whether those people consented and are paid. It also does not address commercial usage rights or disclosure requirements for paid advertising. Glif is not the only company with the idea, either: a product called Cast already describes itself as the first AI character casting agency.
That is the honest read for independent teams: a genuinely fast way to prototype product ads, and a reminder that the cheapest shoot is the one you cannot legally run. Watch the rights page, not just the demo reel.
