AI answers don’t send clicks anymore — so small businesses are learning to be named in the answer

Austin content marketing agency Boomhailer has launched a multichannel service built for a shift small businesses can feel but cannot see: customers increasingly get answers from AI tools instead of clicking through to websites.

The service publishes each client across articles, blogs, videos, podcasts, slideshows and infographics on more than 300 platforms, aiming to give AI systems a clearer, more consistent picture of the business, its services and the places it serves. Campaigns run monthly or weekly, each starting with a content plan built around target topics, services and locations.

The pitch leans on a July 2025 Pew Research Center finding: Google users who saw an AI summary clicked a traditional result in just 8% of visits, versus 15% when no summary appeared. When the answer itself is the destination, being named inside it matters more than ranking below it.

Why it matters to independent teams: this is a warning and an opportunity in the same package. The warning: SEO habits built for a click-through web are depreciating. The opportunity: the new game — consistent, factual, widely distributed content about what you actually do — rewards the same discipline small studios already need for portfolios and case studies. Whether you buy a service or do it yourself, the brief has changed from “rank for this keyword” to “be findable and quotable by the machines answering the question.”
